Happoizu (Position chart of eight corners)

Happoizu is a chart that has been used in Japan since ancient times for fortune-telling. By looking at it, trained practitioners can tell things such as direction, time, and the luckiness/unluckiness of events. The system of happoizu is based on ancient Chinese philosophy more than 5,000 years old, and combines techniques in astronomy, astrology, and yin-yang philosophy. The belief that heavenly phenomena have the power to create and change things is at the core of happoizu.. To be more specific, happoizu was conceived of as a visual tool for divining the fortunes and futures of people, to be used in conjunction with divining rods. In other words, happoizu is a tool for navigating through the vagaries of human life.

Here at KIKKOU, we have converted the happoizu into a user-interface tool for helping our customers navigate through our services. A single glance at the happoizu will enable the user, no matter what site he/she is at, to grasp exactly where part of our system he/she is using. Clicking the text within each of the boxes within the happoizu will allow the user to rapidly access that site. An explanation of each of the positions on the happoizu follows.
